John Bernaski of Oxford, NJ, often participates in Civil War re-enactments, and will be dressed for the part as a 19th century photographer with a photographer's tent, backdrop, cameras, lenses and chemistry similar to what was used between 1850-1880.

Tintype Photography
Saturday & Sunday, June 21st and 22nd at the Fair in Section A, Next to the Old White Church & Gate 1

Adults and or children in costume or casually dressed can have their photograph taken by John Bernaski, a practitioner of wet-plate collodion photography.

Suzanne Flynt will be available in the Memorial Hall Museum at the "Don't smile for the Camera" exihbit to answer questions about the early photographic process.

John's portraits on tin, known as tintypes, take about 30 minutes to produce. you can have a standard quarter size plate which is 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" for $40.

Visitors are encouraged to bring along a costume or hat or bring along an object which is meaningful to them. There will be a limited number of PVMA costumes available for use.

There is a $40 fee per photo reservations suggested. Approximately 15-30 minutes per photo.

The
Old Deerfield Craft Fairs are organized by the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association, founded in 1870, which operates Memorial Hall Museum and Indian House Memorial in Old Deerfield, Massachusetts. The proceeds from all the fairs are used to help support the many historical and educational programs of the non-profit membership association.
